Be Red Cross Ready!

the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is pleased to offer a public educational program called “Be Red Cross Ready.” The purpose of this program is to provide participants with the knowledge to prepare for possible disasters and other life-threatening emergencies. Emergency preparedness is a primary role of the American Red Cross and this online program enables us to easily reach individuals who utilize the Internet.

The content of the “Be Red Cross Ready” program reflects the most up-to-date information available and is in concert with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. You can access the presentation directly by clicking on side banner or on the link below:

National Disasters

Every year thousands of families across the United States suffer from disasters. Whether from hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, severe winter storms, or fires, the American Red Cross is there to provide for the immediate needs of the people affected. Mandated by a Congressional Charter the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health & mental health services to address basic human needs. The Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims, and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.

Some of your local Disaster Action Team members are part of the National Disaster Response team also known as DSHR, Disaster Services Human Resources. These members respond to disasters around the country and around the world. Click on the link below to see photos from some of their assignments.
