Military Services

The American Red Cross operates an around-the-clock, around-the-world emergency communication network for the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. This service operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and transmits or receives over 800,000 messages every year - all at no cost to service personnel or their families.

If you have an emergency and need us to contact a service member during business hours, call the office. For help after hours, please call 419-592-4806 and listen to the recorded message.

In December our chapter worked with Volunteer Connection of Northwest Ohio to send comfort items to the deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The items were collected by the residents and businesses of Henry and Defiance County. We sent a total of 46 large boxes filled with everything from books, snacks, candy, toiletries, socks, etc.  Pictured below is Anastasia Kestner whose dad has been serving his third tour in Iraq. She is the granddaughter of Terry Engel from Henry County Chapter.

In December we received two monetary donations to purchase prepaid calling cards to send to deployed troops also. We used the same addresses and added a couple more and sent those over in January.

We would like to thank everyone that donated comfort items or monetary donations to help make this project successful. We would also like to thank the Volunteer Connection of Northwest Ohio for undertaking this project and we really enjoyed working with you.
