Volunteer

The Henry County Chapter of the American Red Cross is always looking for dedicated volunteers. Here are some of the many ways in which you can be a Red Cross volunteer:

• General Office Work in the Local Chapter
• Health and Safety Services Instructor
• Blood Mobile Worker
• Disaster Action Team Member (local disasters)
• DSHR (Disaster Services Human Resources) Team Member - the National Disaster Response Team

Requirements to become a local Disaster Services volunteer:

1. CPR/First Aid certified ( if you are not, we can train you)

2. Take Introduction to Disaster Services

3. Take the Damage Assessment Class

After the initial requirements are fulfilled, we will work you on a personal development program so you can take classes in other areas of Disaster Response in which you are interested. These classes are offered at no cost to disaster volunteers

Requirements to join the DSHR System (National Response Team):

To there are a few more requirements depending on on the function in which you have an interest (feeding, sheltering, damage assessment, computer case work, etc.) There are many courses to choose from depending on your skills, background, and interests.
