Ways to Give

Monetary Donations

The American Red Cross

Your contribution means a great deal to the families who rely on the Red Cross to get them through some of the most difficult times of their lives. The American Red Cross is not a government agency, and we rely primarily on the generosity of local residents and businesses to fund our vital programs and services. Last year the Henry County Chapter provided services to thousands of local residents. (Read a copy of the Henry County Report to Our Community.)

National disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes often ignite an outpouring of generosity from individuals and communities who are moved to assist those whose lives have been affected. The images of devastation prompt many to respond by offering to donate goods for the victims. The cost to sort, package and distribute these types of donations to disaster victims is almost always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items in a meaningful way.

Financial donations to the Red Cross are the best way to assist victims of disasters. Monetary contributions enable the Red Cross to purchase the most appropriate items necessary for emergency relief operations depending upon the type and location of the disaster.

We accept checks or money orders. There are several ways to make a donation:

By Mail or In Person at: 117 W. Washington St ., Napoleon Oh 43545 (Link to Mapquest)

By Phone: 419-592-4806

On-Line: (Link to National Red Cross)

Every Day Needs

As a non-profit organization The American Red Cross operates in a frugal manner, operating as good stewards of our donor dollars. As such, our budget is focused on the needs of our clients and there are always items that could make our day-to-day operation a little easier. Please contact us if have general office equipment or supplies that you think we might be able to use: 419-592-4806.

In-Kind Donations

Donations of goods and services, also known as in-kind donations, can be valuable resources on a relief effort. However, misguided in-kind donations can also have the effect of hampering the relief effort if inappropriate or excessive contributions arriving at the disaster site impede the distribution of priority items.

To prevent such a situation, the American Red Cross is very careful about the types of in-kind donations it accepts. This fact sheet provides additional information regarding the ability of the Red Cross to accept in-kind donations and can help you make an informed decision about one of the ways you can support disaster relief activities.
